Norwich For Jobs partners with The Prince’s Trust and Jarrold Department Store to support young carer.

Norwich For Jobs has proudly partnered with The Prince’s Trust and Jarrold Department Store to support a young carer move forward with his employment journey.

 

James, a 19 year old young man who is a full-time carer for his mother, has struggled to move forward with finding work, due to his caring responsibilities. Having completed studies in engineering, James was unsure of how to proceed with his future.

 

Rhys' Story

Rhys suffers from Dyslexia, he looks after the welfare of his younger brother and lives with his Stepfather.  Lacking in confidence and direction, Rhys, after discussion with his Work Coach, decided to start on the Monday Support Club.  He received much one to one support from, and joined in various activities on the Support Club.  This developed his social interaction and communication with others.  Through various support offered via NFJ, Rhys made progress, by attending external visits to employers and participating in activities to develop his self esteem.  Every Monday was different.

What have we been up to?

On Monday 8th October Donna Owen at Showcaser delivered a motivational talk to our young people at the Monday Support Club about goal setting

Monday 15th October we are took the young people from the Monday Support Club to visit the library at The Forum

Tuesday 16th October M&S are hosted a Talk & Tour for a group of young people aged 18-24 which will include a comprehensive tour of their store and job roles plus information about how to apply for vacancies online and how to access work experience via their partners Princes Trust and Remploy

John's Story

John joined the N4J Monday Support Club in January this year after being unemployed for a period of 3 months. John participated in group activities to build confidence and received support and advice with preparing for interviews from a local employer which he found very useful.  During this time John also received support via Mint.  John has now been successful with securing full time employment at a local poultry farm.

Norwich For Jobs awards Validus with their Silver Award

 

On Friday 5th October, Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North and Founder and Chair of the Norwich For Jobs Project presented local firm, Validus with their Silver Award.

The award recognises the efforts of area businesses that have helped local young people prepare for employment. For over a year, Validus has taken an active role in the effort, providing training and support at its Norwich office.

Norwich For Jobs welcomes new Strategic Board Members as it moves forward to support young people

The Norwich For Jobs project is proud to welcome new Strategic Board Members as we look forward to the project’s new challenges.

The Norwich for Jobs project, which launched in 2013, set out to halve Norwich’s youth unemployment. We achieved this goal and worked beyond that to help thousands of young people into work with local firms.
